North African, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Asian flavours come together in this fun, eclectic Singapore newcomer that also provides kosher food. Aniba’s hidden entrance may be a little underwhelming but once you’re inside all is forgiven as the energy is palpable aided by a DJ spinning a mix of Indie, house and Nu disco, while the moody, dimly-lit ambience and views of Singapore River add further appeal. Veggie dishes and seafood are writ large on a menu peppered with exotic dishes original interpretation – diehard carnivores can walk on. Think smoky smoked trout donuts, exotically spiced and wrapped in yeast batter, or salmon and eggplant sashimi with a Thai-style vinaigrette and tomato-coconut cream. Italian influences might come in the form of a wonderful salad of burrata, Maggie tomatoes, Ortiz anchovies and dried olives or wild seabass with powdered smoked leeks and green vegetables. Finish with a mango kaffir lime tart with caramelized hazelnuts crumble and powdered mandarin.
