One of the hottest tickets in Dempsey showcasing modern Japanese food in a comfortable but casual setting that echoes Osaka's yakitori-ya (traditional grilling stalls). The urban-chic vibe adds to the experience that might mean, in no particular order, grilled eel salad or persimmon, Iberico ham and burrata cheese followed by miso cod or filled miso pork belly with a black garlic sauce. Seasonal fruits or peach panna cotta to round things off. For preference, and added theatre, sit at the modern yakitori bar and take in the knife skills of the chefs. There’s plenty of cocktail action, too, with sake and shochu providing the base.

Sister restaurant in Tiong Bahru equally well regarded.
