This bright and breezy, home-spun place deep in the Bukit Pasoh conservation area is the epitome of a French brasserie with a Singaporean Asian twist. Locals and expats alike love the early shophouse syle that harks back to 1840 and the clos reference in the name (French for walled vineyard) is not lost on oenophiles.
The design is simple but seemingly effortless, and its versatility seems to work as well for a business lunch as it does for a weekend brunch or night on the tiles.
A simple set lunch might mean a lobster bisque tinctured with coconut milk and accompanied by a lobster dumpling followed by steamed cod with Dieppoise sauce or roast chicken with chestnut sauce and artichokes. Finish with cheese and a mousse au chocolate. Wash it all down with a great range of wines from top estates and houses, from Josmeyer Riesling to Badenhorst Chenin Blanc.
Relatively new but sure making its mark.
