Close by the Sands Expo & Convention Centre and just a couple of blocks from Raffles Place, LeVel33 offers one of the best views of Singapore's Marina Bay and city skyline. Modish interiors veer on the utilitarian but it suits the urban microbrewery feel. And, make no mistake, this is the distinguishing feature and what makes this place pretty cool.
The ContemBrewery cooking integrates the beer brewing elements into the food in a creative and intriguing way. Hops, it is explained, have floral & citrusy flavours; yeast means roasted and enriched aromas; while malt provides ample texture to a dish. Starters include scallops, squid and hand-cut beef tartare while, for main, seabass comes pan-seared with beer malt risotto, confit salmon with fennel and apple salad. Steak is of course taken seriously and whether the cow is grain or grass fed, you will be told.
LeVel33 delivers in spadefuls and happily is more than fairly priced. Nice private room, too.
