Trad French brasserie dishes with a modern twist is the mantra at this cosy bistro with its rustic, warm-toned interior, and they don't disappoint. With ingredients from proper French suppliers there's much to love about the flavours, which sing in dishes like their charcuterie platter, homemade foie gras terrine or pan-fried Perigord duck breast. The set lunch may be a show case for steak frites or a crispy-skinned seabass with aubergine and creamy mashed potatoes, but leave froom for a zesty lemon tart or some ace farmyard cheeses.
The name is a nod to Napoleon Bonaparte's nephew who requested there should be a classification of Bordeaux wines for the Universal exposition of 1855. This classification is still the main classification of top Bordeaux wines today. Understandably wine is a core focus here, with 28 wines available for their Enomatic wine machine in a variety of different-sized servings. Professional staff are a delight, too.
Does Napoleon offer a good selection of wine
