Established in 1971, Rang Mahal moved to its fancy new premises at Pan Pacific Hotel in 2001, since when there have been two major renovations. The latest has gone down particularly well, and its not hard to see why. Think palatial interiors, tall ceilings, an easy-on-the-eye, ecru colour palatte and polished European grandeur throughout.
There's plenty of gastronomic excellence, too, but we'd advise kicking off with a Mojito or a Lychee Martini while perusing the menu packed with classics as well as dishes emblazoned with a contemporary twist. Timeless dishes include lamb chops, chicken tikka and sensitively spiced tandoor seabass alongisde popular veg offerings like palak chaat (spinach), chowpatty sliders and Calcutta pani puri. You can't go wrong with Old Delhi butter chicken or prawn curry with aapam. If you don't overdo the moreish breads, you'll have room for an excellent sweet finish might be lychee kulfi or another glass of wine from a list that has caught the attention of Wine Spectator.
