This elegant restaurant, housed in a 1920s heritage building near the Raffles Place MRT, blends Californian and Asian influences in simply wrought dishes where wood-fire cooking, mangrove charcoal and good seasonal sourcing is at the heart.
Lunchtime sees a range of meaty and simple fish dishes take centre stage – think chicken with a truffle-mushroom sauce, pork chop with grain mustard and broccoli or a 45-day dry-aged burger. For starters, try burrata mozzarella, smoked chicken Ceasar or tuna tartare. There’s Norwegian salmon and grilled squid and octopus, too, and a range of cakes and pies for pud. Dinner extends the range and ambition a touch – sharable pork tomahawk or cote de beouf, anyone?
The setting is relaxed and comfortable, if a little utilitarian. Some might say it fails to shake off the notion of an expensive design studio and concept board, but it still serves its purpose.
