Slightly over-rated tourist attraction? We're in two minds. First-timers will love this outdoor eerie affording arguably the best sweeping 360 degree views of Singapore, from the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands and perfect sunsets. But after you've done it a few times you may tire of the sky-high prices and staff care less than others. Part of the magic are the views, for sure, and part is the ambience created by the sky-high experience and stoked by the music and dance floor of the Club Lounge as the evening rolls on. Of course exploration of the cocktail list is a major part, too, although the cocktails are not the best or the most inventive. Majoring on the classics such as Singapore Sling (mixed with Tanqueray), a Paloma (with Jose Cuervo) or Mojito (with Havana Club 3yo), there’s also bottled or craft beer and a workable list of wines including Yalumba, Cloudy Bay and Domaine Ott.
For food, Bao by Ce la Vi (introduced in August 2020) is a major plus, offering plenty of great flavours from tempura sea bass to chicken keraage or truffle wagyu beef. Don’t miss their rather moreish fries which will help soak up the alcohol.
It’s a good night out and some would say value for money when you consider it will save you the entrance price on a visit to the Marina Bay Sands observation deck.
