This restaurant’s owners are trying to create a great space for business and networking events, which is why they have put collectible drinks and top-notch produce-led food at its heart. It’s a louche, luxurious space that has a natural sensuality that will appeal as much to dating couples as it does to corporate diners looking for a special collection of wines and top-notch food. It’s a cossetting space designed to stroke and pamper, with rich velvet bucket seats and sofa style banquettes.

Equally engrossing is the menu, that is peppered with Italian delights. Start with house-baked Koji bread if only to sample the smoked butter, followed by cured pork shoulder and pickled squash or crisp pork meatballs served with a tomato, basil and mozarella sauce. Continue with a selection of charcoal-grilled seasonal fish or saddle of marbled Margra lamb with a shitake and fermented mushroom glaze and yoghurt, accompanied perhaps by gratinated potatoes and grilled broccoli and almonds.

And don’t let the opportunity to try one of their many whiskies pass you by, be it a light, floral style or something altogether richer. Indeed cigar and whisky aficionados settle in to the Whisky Lounge for exactly this purpose. Take note, there is also a first-rate private dining room.
