Hip and happening, with style statements like pendant lighting, a sociable bar for cosy twosomes and communal tables for garrulous singletons. Seasonal Mediterranean small plates and Spanish tapas – grub that’s perfect for sharing – is the kitchen's mantra and deals in super-fresh produce. It all seems to go down a storm with locals eager to secure a berth and help create an ambience.

To kick off, don’t miss the toasted sourdough with some crafty accompaniments – duck rillettes anyone? There’s also sea urchin pudding or umami-rich soft egg with chorizo. Veg is a strong suit: why not nail a fresher-than-fresh tomato salad or some sautéed kale? While, for something more substantial, there's grilled octopus or pan-fried lemon sole, rack of lamb or a grass-fed ribeye steak. Regulars swear by the specials board. Nice puds complete the picture and there’s a first-rate wine list, packed with red and white, often served by the glass, vintage Champagne and sherry, and a nice selection of magnums.
