Watch the sun set at Smoke and Mirrors where you’ll be spoilt for choice in terms of where you fix you’re gaze. The outlook from atop the National Gallery is a striking cosmopolitan fantasy of skyline views looking over The Esplanade, The Pedang and the Marina Bay Sands. For the best views in the house sit ringside along the balcony, though it's not all one-way viewing. The look-at-me crowd and scintillating interior design, which mixes wooden decking with a curvaceous bar, draw the eye, too.
But for those who like their drinks, the real excitement is conjured by the clever team behind the bar, expertly trained and pushing the envelope with exciting flavour combos. A Green Gimlet with homemade lime bitters, kaffir and ginger, anyone? Or perhaps the Singapura Dream, made with aged rum, calamansi and wine aromatised with cardamom and cinnamon is more your tipple? It's a tropical, tart and refreshing drink. We particularly like a creamy and nutty vodka martini mixed with Oloroso sherry.
There are innovative food pairings, too. "Cheese and martini" is a range of drinks using Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka and presented with Black Cow Cheddar. And a range of bar bites means anything from a small dish of honey roasted sesame walnuts or skinny truffle fries dusted with grated parmesan to dainty chunks of beef tenderloin with garlic chips. Tasty, aye?
