SquareMeal Review of Wah Lok

This award-winning Cantonese restaurant continues to offer excellent dim sum and Hong Kong fare. The interior is elegant and contemporary, centred around a cascading chandelier and the high ceiling adds a sense of airiness and space, allowing you to dine while watching the bustling street activity through the windows. Don’t miss beautifully presented baked barbecue pork buns and steamed crab meat and egg white dumplings, as well as scallops and prawns served with asparagus, baked spare rib or whole lobster, all of which are mini works of art. Finish off with cream of pomelo and mango with sago topped with herbal jelly.

The restaurant can get noisy with diners chatting away in a smattering of dialects. Still the constant stream of locals proves that its food is as good as it’s ever been. Service is attentive and friendly though not always English-speaking.
