In the heart of Tanjoong Pagar, Oso Ristorante has begun a bright new chapter in its life, having moved from its shophouse on Bukit Pasoh Road to the Oasia Hotel in Tanjong Pagar, on the 27th floor. It’s certainly an elevation and early reports give it a nice thumbs-up, too. Design references – black and white dolce vita shots, brick walls, hardwood floors and on-trend filament bulb lighting – may be nothing new but they work for this setting and the light afforded by floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as poolside dining, offers good cheer in the daytime. Kick off with classic beef tartar or pressed duck meat terrine. If you’re a pasta fan they do a mean lasagne or crab angel hair linguine, while mushrooms and truffles in season are both specialities. Slow-cooked lamb shank with carrot purée competes for attention with veal Milanese or beef tenderloin with black truffle while, to finish, there’s honey beetroot cake with caramelised Espresso sauce. Dessert wines such as Tuscan Vin Santo maintain the high note. Jazz on Sunday nights adds further charm.
